Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Smart Card Reader Field Engineer to join our engineering and sales teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of smart card technology and reader hardware, with expertise in developing, testing, and troubleshooting smart card reader solutions. This position also requires excellent communication skills to effectively engage with customers and provide technical support as a trusted advisor. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to deliver secure, reliable smart card solutions that meet industry standards and customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain smart card reader solutions for applications such as access control, authentication, and secure data exchange.
- Develop firmware and software for smart card readers, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and protocols (e.g., ISO/IEC 7816, PC/SC, EMV).
- Provide pre-sales technical support for Identity hardware and software products, assisting customers in identifying appropriate solutions from our product portfolio.
- Collaborate with sales to identify and qualify opportunities for strategic accounts and general inquiries.
- Conduct proof of concept (POC) evaluations from initial meetings to implementation, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Perform testing, debugging, and validation of smart card readers to guarantee product reliability, performance, and security.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, technologies, and standards related to smart card technology and identity solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to customers regarding smart card reader integration and performance issues.
- Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and technical manuals.
- Maintain relationships with technical resources at all levels of customer organizations.
Requirements
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in customer-facing roles with smart card readers and related technologies.
- Familiarity with smart card reader protocols such as ISO/IEC 7816, ISO/IEC 14443, and PC/SC standards.
- Knowledge of multi-factor authentication, encryption, virtualization, key management, and PKI.
- Experience with cryptographic technologies and secure communication protocols.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of smart card reader hardware, including contact and contactless reader design.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, SQL, Java, and experience with SDKs and APIs.
- Familiarity with security protocols and encryption algorithms used in smart card technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions
