Summary: 

 

The Logistics Manager coordinates and administers the cement import process. This position establishes an effective acquaintance and personal relationship with individuals in key positions with cement import suppliers and ship owners all over the world.

  

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor. 
  • Collaborates with Customs Agent(s) and ship owners to assure timely arrangement of ships for all cement import shipments.
  • Provides suppliers with an annual schedule of cement import shipments and updates the schedule regularly.
  • Coordinates cement import deliveries with Customs Agent(s), Terminal Operations Manager, and partners.
  • Audits all cement import invoices and freight bills, as well as oversees timely payment and dispute resolution of these bills.
  • Collaborates with Customs Agent(s) to file claims against ship owners and/or carriers as necessary on all cement import shipments.
  • Secures the most advantageous methods for inter-divisional and inter-terminal transfer of products.
  • Traces and expedites cement import shipments and handles diversions and re-consignments.
  • Collaborates with Customs Agents on all cement import tariff interpretations and applications, government laws and regulations, and industry developments.
  • Manages logistics of cement supply to all Company terminals.
  • Maintains adequate computer hardware & software systems to properly plan, organize & account for all cement import and inventory activities.
  • Prepares reports, freight claims, ship freight rate maintenance, and other special projects.
  • Assists in keeping accurate and up-to-date files of terminal ship activities for purposes of demurrage oversight and demurrage bill auditing.
  • Occasional travel up to 15%. 

 

To succeed in this position, you will need: 

 

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. 
  • Minimum 4 Year/ Bachelor’s Degree in transportation, business administration, marketing, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an import transportation position in the cement industry or other industry that involves similar import activities. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, coaching or directing work.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work from general policies and objectives.
  • Ability to refer to supervisor when clarification, interpretation or administration of organization policy is in question.
