A vital part of this mission is ensuring we have optimized IT infrastructure — and to do that, we need a qualified and dedicated technical solution architect. This role will identify pain points and design or modify technical solutions for business challenges. The solution architect will be deeply involved in daily work across all business units, regularly interacting with stakeholders and subject matter experts, and will play an essential role in meeting short- and long-term business goals and will periodically lead the evaluation of existing and emerging technologies.
As the primary IT representative at ZRL, this role will be at the forefront of developing our technology strategy. The Technical Solutions Architect will play a key role in translating business needs for ZTD and participating in cross-functional teams and initiatives to foster a culture of continual improvement. They will drive process optimization by actively seeking improvement areas, streamlining operational workflows with innovative technical solutions, and keeping stakeholders updated on IT development processes and costs. Additionally, this role will collaborate with Medical leadership to devise logical technology solutions that enhance workflows and the use of laboratory applications for pathologists.
This position will oversee and manage the ZRL portions of technical project budgets and capital expenditures. This position will also direct the work of technology-related resources within ZRL, including (but not limited to) Data & Analytics.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Participated in optimizing ZRL’s technology environment by helping develop business needs documentation and working with ZTD to improve operational performance by implementing effective technology platforms and environment.
The primary liaison between ZRL Operations and ZTD will partner with teams across business functions to drive organizational efficiencies and ensure comprehensive IT documentation where needed.
Oversight and high-level coordination of ZRL technology-related initiatives and projects and collaboration with ZRL leadership to define needed initiatives and projects to optimize operational performance.
Provide oversight and support the development of the ZRL Data & Analytics program, including direct management of the ZRL Data & Analytics Scientist.
Coordinate with and manage technology-related contract resources (project managers, consultants related to projects, etc.)
Oversight of technology-related projects, including responsibility for associated project budgets.
Oversight of the technology aspects of large ZRL projects, ensuring that technology initiatives are aligned with the ZRL technology strategy.
Collaborating with ZTD on the development of ZRL’s technology support plan
Collaborating with ZTD on the integration of ZRL systems and applications
Collaborating with ZRL PMO/Program Management to help define technology aspects of ZRL high-priority projects.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This role will span multiple departments and business units and interact with various stakeholders across the Zoetis organization. This person must collaborate closely with multiple teams, such as ZRL Operations, Medical, ZTD, Marketing, and Customer Experience, to ensure processes are aligned and support ZRL’s overall goals. Specific groups may include (but are not limited to):
- ZTD
- ZRL PMO/Program Management
- ZRL Leadership Team
- ZRL Medical Leadership Team
- ZRL Extended Leadership Team
- Technology vendors
- ZRL internal teams (Lab Teams, Facilities, Purchasing, Support, etc.)
RESOURCES MANAGED
Financial Accountability
Responsible for creating expense forecasts/estimates related to technology-related projects and development initiatives and managing those expenses during the lifecycle of the project/initiative.
Supervision
Typically manages 1-3 technology colleagues, including Data & Analytics resources and other technology-related resources.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in management or business or a related field of study, or bachelor’s degree with a high degree of related experience
- In-depth knowledge of technology systems and experience with optimizing systems for business performance (minimum of 4 years)
- Proven experience working with laboratory-related technology systems.
- Experience with the development and management of technology systems and support
- Experience in communicating and working with all stakeholders, including leadership.
