About the role

The Gist

The Warehouse Warrior team leader is responsible for facilitating smooth and efficient warehouse operations by supervising, supporting and motivating the warehouse staff and assisting the Distribution Manager as necessary.  This role leads by example in the prepping and loading of outgoing shipments, unloading of product and material, and ensuring the warehouse remains organized and clean.

 

What you’ll Do

  • Responsible for the safety of all team members and required to audit area/tasks for safety compliance and work with EH&S manager to ensure compliance to company and OSHA policies.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings, audits, and good catch program.
  • Perform 5Why and accident investigation when needed.
  • Monitor “Good Catch” program to ensure that action is being taken to solve safety issues
  • Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of our Lagunitas warehouse, docks and ASRS system.
  • Knowledge of warehouse tasks and day to day responsibilities; oversee warehouse staff throughout shift.
  • Knowledge of operation/minor troubleshooting of the cold storage, AGV, and conveyor operation/up keep.
  • Delegate projects and tasks to staff as necessary to maintain an efficient flow of the docks and warehouse.
  • Monitor staff performance ensuring periodic goals and deadlines are met.
  • Trains and coaches warehouse team as necessary.
  • Utilizes and operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and hand lifts to move, convey or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to the storage and work area.
  • Consolidates material and product, enabling easy maneuverability and convenient product placing throughout warehouse.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading merchandise onto trucks.
  • Prepares items for shipment: compares identifying information and counts, hand stacks product to create partial pallets, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Prepare sample orders for sales teams and other internal departments.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Delivers items to requisitioning departments or end location.
  • Ensures that the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment is practiced and upheld in accordance with good warehouse practices. This includes the organization of the storage areas around the facility.
  • Responsible for Forklift certification/recertification within the department.
  • Controls  First-in/First-out rotation within the warehouse areas, including raw materials as well as finished goods.
  • Responsible for understanding the needs of Import/Export pallet shipments.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as needed.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • A minimum of one year experience in shipping and receiving; must have experience operating forklifts and hand lifts to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate and communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Highest regard and adherence to safety with a constant awareness of Company’s processes, procedures and policies.
  • Performs duties with an emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must show valid proof of insurance, have a good driving record and maintain a current valid State driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

 

Key Relationships

  • Directly reports to the Distribution Manager.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Physical requirement needed to lift 35 lb cases, 165 lb kegs and various point of sales boxes on a periodic basis.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Must be able to tolerate outside summer/winter temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, overtime as necessary, & holidays and weekends.
