The Residential Lending Group is responsible for delivering outstanding service to our clients seeking residential lending products.  We offer portfolio lending via our retail branch network and Specialized Deposit Group, referrals from our Commercial Lending Group, as well as directly through our website.  The processing, underwriting and closing of residential loans resides within this group.


Role: ​The Vice President - Residential Lending will lead and manage the Bank’s residential lending function, ensuring the necessary people, processes, and technology are in place to meet our customers' needs. This role is responsible for the daily operations of residential lending - including providing guidance to relationship managers on origination, processing, underwriting, and coordinating with the Bank’s closing agents. The VP, Residential lending will champion a culture of excellence, empowering their team to achieve ambitious goals and fostering a collaborative environment. They will also serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, proactively identifying opportunities for growth and innovation within the residential lending department.


Responsibilities:  

Leadership & Management:

  • Drive Relationship Residential Lending Growth: Develop and execute plans to achieve residential loan growth with relationship deposit customers, ensuring compliance with established loan policies, regulations, and market conditions.
  • Cultivate Collaborative Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with internal partners - particularly the Specialized Deposit Group and the retail branch network - to ensure high-quality service and exceed client expectations.
  • Oversee Loan Processing: Manage the loan processing workflow, ensuring timely and accurate processing, adherence to quality control standards, and exceptional client service.
  • Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team: Recruit, train, and mentor loan processing staff, providing ongoing support and performance feedback to ensure team success.
  • Market Expansion: Oversee the process of geographic market expansion if necessary
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure adherence to all applicable regulations, internal controls, and risk management standards. Represent the Residential Lending Group as the lead on all audits and exams. 
  • Training: Provide ongoing training and meetings to inform loan officers and processing staff of regulatory or process changes.
  • Optimize Operations & Efficiency: Implement process improvements, leverage technology, and manage vendor relationships to enhance operational efficiency, reduce customer friction, and ensure seamless loan underwriting and processing.

Loan Underwriting:

  • Underwrite Residential Real Estate Loans: Serve as the primary underwriter for owner-occupied single-family real estate transactions, evaluating borrower and sponsor creditworthiness through comprehensive review of financial statements, credit history, and collateral and working closely with senior management for guidance on structuring, pricing, and risk tolerance.
  • Loan Proposal Presentation: Prepare and present loan proposals to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in residential lending, with a minimum of eight to ten years of progressively responsible roles in the financial services
