Purpose

Supervise Federal Costing team, oversee service center rate proposals, and provide analytical support for Facilities and Administrative cost rate proposals to optimize the university's indirect cost recovery revenue.

Responsibilities    

  • Perform an integral role during fiscal year-end processes, including posting journal entries, reconciling annual financial report schedules, performing analytical reviews, completing interdepartmental transfer (IDT) eliminations, assisting with Statement of Federal Expenditures (SEFA) and responding to audit requests.
  • Prepare and analyze required reports. This includes but is not limited to the Facilities and Administrative Rate (F&A) proposal and negotiation of rates, Service Center Reviews, and Ad Hoc requests, etc.  
  • Provide accounting support for customers, including campus departments, oversight agencies, UT management, and section managers within the Office of Finance specifically within Designated Fund Service Center accounts.        
  • Supervising and training the Federal Costing Team to ensure all work for the section is completed in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Other related functions as assigned.  

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related analytical field.  Able to organize, and complete complex tasks within a team environment. Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.  Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.  Proficient in Excel.  Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience establishing rates and ensuring compliance with service center policies in concert with Costing Accounting Standards, applicable university policies, and Uniform Guidance.  Experience with indirect cost analysis.  Experience working with a large research university.  Experience with process improvement analysis and implementation. Experience with consensus/team building.
