Description

Reports to the Associate Dean, Education Administration with accountability to the Dean, the Sr. Director for Education Accreditation and Compliance will lead the creation and development of the School of Medicine (SOM) Office of Accreditation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the SOM education community by providing leadership by providing information, analysis, data, reports, special studies, planning, assessment, and evaluation for all programs by developing and managing databases to facilitate efforts in educational effectiveness and improvement.
  • Engages directly with the following accreditation organizations: Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME), Association for America Medical Colleges (AAMC), Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCEPA), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Genetic Counseling Education (GCE), Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiological Technology (JRCERT), Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (AACME), and Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
  • Serves as the SOM's liaison to the Office of the Provost regarding institutional-level (SACSCOC) accreditation and assessment reporting.
  • Coordinates with the SOM's submissions to the University Academic Review Committee for new program proposals, cooperative academic arrangements, curriculum modifications, and other substantive changes.
  • Leads and oversees SOM education accreditation coordination and collaborates with specific programs for accreditation preparation.
  • Performs research, analyzes, and develops comprehensive reports.
  • Ensures each program has appropriate CQI processes and frameworks to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Prepares, develops, publishes internal and external reports and surveys.
  • Creates and maintains accreditation dashboards to inform SOM leaders on accreditation timelines, standards, and compliance within standards and coordinates with program accreditation committees to gather, organize, and present data.
  • Supports SOM education programs with providing information, statistics, and reports to external accrediting agencies, by maintaining various databases and obtaining data from other offices and/or assisting them in preparing reports to ensure consistent and reliable information to requesting agency.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of the plan of educational effectiveness by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data, making recommendations, and assisting various academic and administrative offices in curriculum reviews, program assessment and faculty review progress reports.
  • Plans and directs initinatives to develop relationships and increase the functioality of the office as a resource for all SOM education programs.
  • Provides direction and assistance on academic assessment and review activities with faculty and staff in all educational programs.
  • Ensures quality assurance compliance and continuous improvement principles and practices of SOM policies accreditation standards and federal/state regulatory requirements.
  • Provides analytic and support expertise in research methods, design, data presentation to the education community for improvement of academic and administrative processes and programs.
  • Creates and maintains SOM education data to support internal and external reporting and communications.
  • Oversees staff responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring affiliation agreements with educational partners.
  • Ensures the educational policies and handbooks are up to date and accessible in accordance with accreditation and other requirements, including applicable and required University policies.
  • Assists in implementing accreditation criteria (i.e., standards and guidelines) by maintaining dialogue with program accreditation liaison(s) and interpreting accreditation criteria of SOM programs to ensure criteria are met, kept up to date, and reports filed according to deadlines.
  • Collaborates and provides consultation to SOM program leaders on the assessment and implementation of new education programs.
