The Instructional Services Specialist is responsible for assisting the Instructional Services Coordinator with the day-to-day logistical coordination of instructional services and outreach activities that draw upon Thompson Special Collections (Thompson Special Collections) materials and resources, including those of the Herman J. Albrecht Library of Historical Architecture, Hilandar Research Library, Rare Books & Manuscripts Library, and Theatre Research Institute. This position reports to the Instructional Services Coordinator.

This is a two-year term position.

Education and Experience:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in arts, humanities, or other relevant field or an equivalent combination of

education and experience in humanities or teaching/education. At least 2-years of academic library, special collections, and/or primary source-based instructional/educational experience. Familiarity with standard office-related tools and technology, such as MS Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous demands.

Desired: 2-3 years of experience working in a special collections environment; experience with primary source-based instruction or teaching; knowledge of trends and current best practices in archival and special collections instruction; knowledge of or direct experience working with materials related to architecture or the history of architecture; knowledge of collections, conservation and preservation, and digitization best practices; demonstrated interest and experience in book history, archives, or cultural heritage collections; ability to work confidently with at least one foreign language related to ThoSpColl’s wide array of collecting strengths and priorities and/or experience working with collection materials in non-English languages.

Additional Information:

The posting range for this position is $51,500-$60,000 annually.
