Job Description:
Supports the clinical practice of education by formulating, determining and effectuating orientation and staff development policies and programs that facilitate professional practice and shared governance. Develops performance improvement activities to improve critical thinking skills, leading to enhanced practice skills resulting in improving patient outcomes. Formulates quality improvement and quality assurance activities by integrating evidence based practices into policies and procedural guidelines; effectuating the multidisciplinary care management of clinical associates; and assisting in the development, data collection and documentation for clinical applications and research. The manager of clinical education serves as a nurse expert in the delivery of comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families. As the subject matter expert, the manager will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the trauma program, and the pathways to excellence program as well as staff development, education and competencies. The manager of clinical education is responsible for establishing and maintaining online education/competency programs for all clinical associates. The manager is responsible for functioning as the American Heart Association or Heart Code Complete site coordinator, managing the delivery of education, certification and training in clinical education, managing clinical implementation of the pathways to excellence program and managing the trauma coordinator to successfully obtain recertification in the trauma program.To show our commitment to you and to assist with your transition into our organization, we will also offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus as well as Relocation Assistance.
Manages and oversees Nursing Associate Orientation
- Evaluates orientation on an annual basis by seeking input from all Clinical Leaders who have orientees each quarter and recommends adjustments and rationale to Nursing Leadership.
- Acquires evaluation from each orientee using a qualitative and quantitative evaluation tool; provides responses to direct reports and implements change to the orientation as appropriate.
- Prepares for each orientation, ensuring packets/materials are ready in advance of the orientation. 4. Uses independent judgment to evaluate and adjust content of orientation packet on an ongoing basis.
- Serves as an Education Liaison to Clinical Leaders for Human Resources to conduct Traveler orientation, to include coordination of all presenters.
- Serves as an Education Liaison to Clinical Leaders for all aspects of C.N.A. Orientation.
Manages the Nurse Residency and New Graduate Nurse / Preceptor Program
- Serves as a liaison to schools of nursing, partnering to create innovative student and clinical teaching/learning experiences.
- Handles all logistics associated with new Residency cohorts to include contacting all presenters, adjusting schedules.
- Maintains ongoing management relationship with entire Nurse Residency.
- Creates Residency processes/materials after discussion with supervisor based on evaluation/input.
- Acquires evaluation from each orientee for each weekly session using a qualitative and quantitative evaluation tool and implements changes to the orientation as appropriate.
- Visits with each Resident/Preceptor combo in their area of work to determine progress/needs.
- Communicates Residents’ needs to Nursing Leader to collaboratively develop and execute policies to ensure Residents’ success.
Conducts annual Clinical Needs Assessment
- Conducts an annual clinical needs assessment.
- Provides analysis and determines Plan of Action based on finding to nursing leadership within (2) weeks of conclusion of Needs Assessment.
- Plan of Action includes specific activities, in-services, etc. with proposed timeframes for activities.
- Vets and gains approval of the clinical need assessment from nurse leaders.
- Executes Plan, to include coordination of all clinical educational offerings to meet staff’s needs.
- Maintains relationship with Nursing Students and Instructors
- Conducts orientation for students and instructors new to HRH each clinical semester. Uses discretion to adjust orientation based on changes within the organization. Conducts periodic refresher training for students and instructors.
Maintain visibility with staff
- Rounds in each Clinical area at least weekly, touching base with all staff on duty to identify educational needs, practice concerns, and inconsistencies of practice.
