Operating Room Aide Fulltime

The Perioperative Support Operating Room (OR) Aide ensures that all stations are ready for the day and ready to receive patients. Ensures the cleanliness of the Operating Room and surrounding areas. Ensures that the team is ready throughout the day by providing full replenishment. Is conscientious and efficient in the application of a task as this role is key to ensuring that the other members of the surgical team are ready to care for the patient.

Responsibilities: 

• Cleans equipment and PeriOp area between procedures and on a scheduled basis, in a timely/detailed manner and in accordance with Operating Room policies.
• Maintains overall environment (e.g. empties trash, cleans spills, removes soiled linens) on a continuous basis.
• Demonstrates an understanding of infection control standards and the knowledge of general cleaning principles according to hospital policy.
• Performs daily re-stocking of designated supply areas including linen, fluid warmers. etc.
• Delivers specimens, blood products, etc.
• Obtains additional supplies and equipment for the nursing staff as needed.
• Safely transfers patients to and from in the Operating Room.
• Performs routine maintenance on housekeeping equipment.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements for consideration:

• At least 1 (one) year of patient care experience
  • Professional cleaning experience is preferred 
• BLS Certification by the American Heart Association upon hire
• Location: Inova Alexandria Hospital
• M-F Day Shift, Weekend and Overnight Coverage
