Job Summary
Avantor is seeking a dedicated QA Chemist to optimize our Quality Assurance Team with Nusil to conduct qualitative and quantitative experiments on chemical substances to ensure quality control or develop new products or knowledge. Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests and advising and coordinating test procedures. Determine chemical and physical properties, compositions, structures, relationships, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds. Develop, improve, and customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, and analytical methods. Confer with scientists and engineers to analyze, interpret, and develop tests.
This is a full-time direct hire position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility. The team
Avantor’s Quality Assurance team is part of NuSil’s Quality Group under Global Operations.
What we’re looking for
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or minimum of 5 years’ experience in related field of study or industry
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, chemical, and/or related field preferred.

Under moderate supervision, the QA Chemist must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Performs analysis of new silicone formulations and process intermediates.
- Conducts method characterization, optimization, validation, qualifications, and transfer studies.
- Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests and advising and coordinating test procedures.
- Be knowledgeable of equipment operation, materials formulation, systems use, and lab / pilot processes.
- Assists with design and development verification and validation activities.
- Assists with design and development of equipment and instrument qualifications.
- Interfaces with various NuSil departments, works closely with Technology and Innovation, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance Testing and Engineering departments.
- Performs standard quality assurance/quality control evaluation procedures, evaluating data using statistical methods for analysis, interpreting results of analysis, and making appropriate recommendations to management in developing and presenting a variety of training programs and preparing manuals and documentation.
- Proactively communicate and address technical and timeline challenges in projects.
- Appropriately update project plans, documenting project progress and communicating with leadership.
- Must be regular and punctual in attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency:
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is
$57,300.00 - $95,400.00Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
