The MI’s Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME USA) is a signature initiative of the MI, supported by a dedicated team.

FAME is a distinct model of skills training used to develop the next generation of technicians for advanced manufacturing. The Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program is the flagship training program of this model and is used by hundreds of manufacturers across the country to develop global-best multiskilled technicians; a Process Technician program is currently being piloted to expand training opportunities into new specialties. The FAME USA network is currently comprised of nearly four dozen chapters across 16 states; chapters have employers, colleges, and community organizations all supporting the program locally. Additional geographies are seeking to launch chapters each year, with the network having experienced phenomenal growth over the past three years.

Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Institute (MI) is seeking a professional to serve as Associate Director, FAME USA, which will be an important part of the overall FAME USA team. This role will support existing chapters through the dissemination of technical resources, operational support, peer guidance, and through hands-on training and similar supports. This dynamic role is at the heart of FAME USA and will interface with stakeholders across the network regularly, both virtually and in-person. A successful candidate should have a continuous improvement mindset, embrace working closely with the experienced team supporting FAME USA, and take advantage of the opportunity to work with a growing network of partners across the country implementing this highly regarded program. You’ll be joining a larger MI team of entrepreneurial problem-solvers designing, enhancing, and managing national-scale solutions while nurturing successful partnerships that attract and prepare the next generation manufacturing workforce.

The Associate Director, FAME USA position will support the larger teams’ efforts as needed, particularly through the identification, development, and execution of relevant training for the FAME network.
You will be a representative of the MI’s FAME USA team and the main point of contact for many stakeholders across the country. In this role, you will provide all manner of support for new and existing FAME chapters, using various systems, tools, and related resources to support chapter operations and promote successful scaling of FAME chapters. You will help identify training and programmatic needs for individual chapters and the network at large while supporting the development—and execution—of such. You will assist in planning and executing convenings, webinars and conferences for the FAME program; and, to do so effectively, you will communicate and collaborate as appropriate with external partners, which includes employers, non-profits, education institutions, and even government agencies.
