THE ROLE:

The Director, Quality Control is responsible for executing the strategies as established by the Vice President of Quality within the established legal guidelines and internal standards to ensure the production of the highest quality products in the safest and most efficient manner. This position is responsible for providing QC oversight of Athletic Greens’ external site batch manufacturing, including Quality Control Operations, Chemistry and Microbiology testing, Product Sensory, and Product Complaints, in contribution to the overall, long-term success of the organization. This is accomplished by ensuring that Athletic Greens, its suppliers and contract manufacturers have in place effective quality and food safety systems. The role interacts extensively with RNI, Supply Chain & Operations, Customer Happiness, external contract manufacturers, suppliers and laboratories.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Ensure Athletic Greens products are developed, manufactured, and distributed at the right quality levels, in compliance with relevant local and global regulations.
  • Drive quality awareness and operational improvement; ensure product safety, uniformity and conformity in process and engineering.
  • Work with department leadership to ensure appropriate quality, oversight, input, and support for business goals regarding quality and compliance.
  • Act as primary point of contact for quality at manufacturing/production level to ensure Athletic Greens Quality standards are upheld for all matters, including the escalation and communication of issues and results in a timely manner.
  • Manage technical troubleshooting, operational and efficiency improvements, while working within cGMP, local, federal, and global regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with QA Manager and Manufacturing Director to enforce compliance and improve process capability, ensure adherence to Food Safety standards at all steps of the manufacturing process (incoming, production, co-packing, storage, maintenance, etc.) for all Athletic Greens finished products.
  • Collaborate with AG internal Customer Happiness team on product quality complaints, adverse and serious adverse events.
  • Accountable for daily quality management, timely product release, management of non-conforming product, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Oversee Analytical and QC Laboratory activities, in conjunction with onsite the Sr. Lab Manager, to ensure consumer safety and product conformance to established specifications, including Product Sensory for raw materials and finished products.
  • Support management of all certification programs, including GMP, NSF, TGA, GF, Halal, Kosher, etc.
  • Support KPI tracking and improvement; establish action plans for key Quality metrics including right first time, specification conformance, and finished product losses (micro and non-micro).
  • Continuously engage key stakeholders inside and outside the organization on quality initiatives; support cross-functional team efforts in the commercialization of new products by participating in meetings, documentation of contract facility capabilities, identification of quality concerns, participation in plant trials or start-ups, organization of specification reviews and compliance checks.
  • Promote appropriate training and support for the preparation and realization of procedures in the design and manufacturing process.
  • Collaborate with other functions and departments on Quality related aspects. Lead and contribute to complex departmental and cross-functional initiatives and special projects as identified by management to support the business need.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing setting; minimum of 8+ years’ work experience in a QA/QC function in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing setting
