Process Engineer II- Appleton, WI

We are seeking a Process Engineer to work in close collaboration with other employees at the Appleton, WI site providing technical support for the production processes as well as act as the Site Security Representative. The Process Engineer will work in a collaborative direction with the supervision of the Site Manager.

The Dispersions & Resins business of BASF develops, produces and markets a range of high-quality resins, additives, colorants and polymer dispersions worldwide. Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Frequently use Microsoft Suite and SAP to develop and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance as it relates to the chemical manufacturing processes
  • Serve as a manufacturing representative on capital projects and execute commissioning and startup of capital projects
  • Manage process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization
  • Lead new product scale up activities including recipe development, trial oversight, and commercialization activities
  • Apply analytical skills and mechanical aptitude to provide process engineering support toward efforts to improve plant productivity and product quality working closely with front line operators 
  • Utilize problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to support the plant DCS and process control strategies to improve and troubleshoot plant processes
  • Provide Technical support for risk assessments on Management of Changes (MOCs) to ensure changes do not jeopardize safety of plant
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and minimize variation in support of site goals
  • Work closely with the EH&S Specialists to ensure site compliance to BASF and other regulatory requirements
  • Support the BASF Process Safety Program through ownership/upkeep of process safety information
  • Maintain automation systems to meet BASF automation security standards
  • As the Transportation Distribution Safety Officer (TDSO) – conduct internal reviews collaborating with the TDS manager on a 3-year basis
  • Collaborate with leadership and be flexible to take on additional tasks as needed to support the vision and strategy of the plant
  • All other duties as assigned

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

 

BS in Chemical Engineering or other engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred)

5+ years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Previous experience identifying and implementing process modifications to improve efficiency/reliability

Previous experience in facilitation and coordination of root cause analysis

Preferred…

Experience programming in DCS and/or PLC platforms (e.g. Honeywell, Delta V, ABB)

Experience identifying and developing cost/benefit analysis for potential new projects

Background in dispersion manufacturing

Working knowledge and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar data driven process improvement methodologies
