Overview of position:
FEDITC is seeking an experienced Data Center Lead to support the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) Academic Network Labor Contract in Monterey, CA area, supporting approximately 5,751 military and federal civilian employees worldwide. The person in this position will serve as the lead of the Data Center Operations.
This is an upcoming opportunity with a projected start date of 12 January 2026.
A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.
Background Investigation NAC initiated is required to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day Data Center Operations. These activities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining proper configuration and support of domain system servers, SAN, backup systems, identity management, security of the datacenter
- The contractor will perform on-call or after-hours support to restore data center functionality during unplanned outages or failures
- Assessing customer needs and implementation of improved configurations for customer needs.
- Providing support for maintaining the existing systems, any new systems, making recommendations for system modernization, and expansion to meet mission requirements
- Create a sustainment plan based on requirements to maintain and operate all facets of the DLIFLC and support systems
- Ensure the datacenter is operating 24x7 with DoD directed updates and security patches
- Perform datacenter contingency operations, disaster recovery, and business continuity
Qualifications
Experience/Skills:
Required
- Experience configuring and supporting domain controllers, DNS/AD services, and related server infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with SAN administration, storage provisioning, snapshots, replication, and enterprise backup solutions
- Practical skills with identity management systems, account lifecycle, group policies, RBAC, and authentication/authorization troubleshooting
- Knowledge of hardening servers and network devices, implementing security patches, host-based controls, and baseline configuration management
- Proven track record providing after-hours and on-call support to diagnose and restore datacenter functionality during unplanned outages
- Experience creating, testing, and executing disaster recovery plans, running contingency operations, and leading recovery after failures
- Experience maintaining legacy systems, onboarding new systems, recommending modernization or expansion to meet mission needs
- Ability to schedule, test, and apply DoD-directed updates and security patches without disrupting 24x7 operations
- Ability to assess customer needs, design improved configurations, and translate requirements into operational changes
Education:
- BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience or substitute with AA/AS with 7+ years’ experience
