POSITION SUMMARY 6 hours per week

The Adjunct Faculty – History and Government Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality online asynchronous instruction in History and Government courses for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. The instructor facilitates student learning through engaging online course design, meaningful interaction, timely feedback, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Instruction emphasizes historical knowledge, civic responsibility, government systems, and critical thinking while supporting the general education requirements of the BSN curriculum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES

Teach assigned online asynchronous History and Government courses in accordance with approved curriculum, course objectives, and student learning outcomes.
Facilitate instruction through the College's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring an organized, engaging, and accessible online learning environment.
Develop and maintain course content, announcements, assignments, discussions, quizzes, and examinations aligned with institutional standards

Federal, state, and local government
Civic engagement and public policy
Historical analysis and interpretation
Critical thinking and effective written communication
Evaluate student performance through written assignments, discussion boards, projects, quizzes, examinations, and other assessment methods.
Provide timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback to students.
Monitor student participation and academic progress and communicate with students who may require additional support.
Maintain accurate attendance (where applicable), grades, and student records in accordance with institutional policies.
Respond to student questions and communications within established institutional response time expectations.
Maintain regular virtual office hours or availability to support student learning.
Participate in faculty meetings, training, curriculum review, assessment activities, and professional development as assigned.Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

 QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE

Master's degree in History, Political Science, Government, Social Sciences, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution; OR
Master's degree in another discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in History, Government, Political Science, or a closely related field.
Prior postsecondary teaching experience preferred.
Experience teaching online or asynchronous courses preferred.
