PA engineering interns gain exposure to product development as members of active project teams. As activities are heavily project-determined, an intern could find themselves involved in different phases of the development cycle.Â
Job Description
All candidates must include a portfolio with their resume/application.
Salary: $27-$35/hr
Duration: 3 months
Â
Typical intern activities may include:Â
early phase conceptualization and brainstormingÂ
collaboration with cross-disciplinary teamsÂ
design and fabrication of prototype mechanical models/systemsÂ
use of SolidWorks or other CAD programs for mechanical design developmentÂ
use of basic shop tools and equipmentÂ
troubleshooting of models/systemsÂ
testing/optimization of systems for subsequent commercializationÂ
interfacing directly with vendors and potentially clientsÂ
developing code to interface with electromechanical systems or analyze datasetsÂ
Qualifications
Candidates for this position:Â
will have completed at least their second year of post-high school education by the start of the internshipÂ
are currently pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and will return to an academic program at the end of the internshipÂ
are knowledgeable of engineering fundamentals, mechanical design, and material mechanicsÂ
are flexible, creative, adaptable, and demonstrate a desire to learnÂ
effectively communicate their work and ideas to interdisciplinary groupsÂ
are expected to be fully in-person at the location listed for this positionÂ

Additional qualities we are looking for:Â
enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in an informal work environment with minimal supervisionÂ
aptitude with hand and machine toolsÂ
familiarity with 3D modeling as a primary tool for engineering developmentÂ
