Basic Purpose
The U.S. Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing and implementing a plan to grow sales for the Consumer and Packaging (C&P) portfolio accounts.
As a Business Development Manager, the person will oversee Nexeo Plastics account prospecting for new prime and widespec sales. This includes researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities, contacting potential customers to establish rapport and arrange meetings, and planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives connected to their supplier portfolio.
In addition, the person will oversee Nexeo Plastics supplier based pipeline and growth targets in partnership with sales, marketing, technical, product management, and Commercial leadership.
Working closely with internal and external contacts the person will ensure alignment and execution of business plans and strategies for targeted products, customers, markets, and segments.
They will be the liaison between the Nexeo commercial teams and product management/suppliers, acting as an in-house expert on designated C&P supplier products, positioning, and packaging end market strategy to support the US sales team, driving growth in pipeline and sales.
Additional responsibilities:
- In addition to prospecting for prime sales, this role will support widespec sales. This includes but not limited to securing supply, and ownership of the prospect list.
Key performance indicators:
- Increased customer count (active buying customers)
- Increasing pipeline total by count and by volume
- Increased closed/won volume for prime (branded, hival), and widespec
- Volume growth vs target
- Improved supplier satisfaction scores
Description of Primary Responsibilities
- Develop prospecting strategy to develop new accounts.
- Define key activities to support PLMs to deliver upon supplier objectives.
- Understand consumer and packaging end markets, applications, regulations for which suppliers’ products are used.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, particularly extrusion, blown film, cast film, blow molding, rotational molding, and injection molding.
- Outline Targets by Region. Set traveling schedule and work with the regional teams to make joint calls with sales.
