About the role

About Betterment

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease.  We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).

About the Role

The Business Systems & Tooling (BS&T) team builds and operates the internal systems that power Betterment's B2B businesses — from Salesforce and its surrounding integrations to the tooling that connects our sales, service, and advisor workflows to the Betterment platform itself. Because Betterment sells across multiple lines of business, our sales tech stack has to reflect that complexity: it's not one product and one funnel, but a set of interconnected systems serving distinct teams with distinct needs.

This role owns the interface between BS&T and its stakeholders. You'll embed deeply within stakeholder teams — attending their meetings, learning their day-to-day workflows, and understanding their upcoming priorities — so that BS&T can proactively identify opportunities rather than waiting for problems to arrive as tickets. You'll then bring that context back to the team, partnering with our engineering leads and architects to translate stakeholder needs into well-scoped tasks and clear, communicated roadmaps.

This role is ideal for someone who is energized by sitting between business teams and technical teams: fluent enough in each world to be trusted by both, and disciplined enough to turn ambiguity into a plan.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment's total compensation package for employees.

New York City: $125,000 – $145,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.

A Day in the Life

Stakeholder Immersion & Discovery

  • Embed with stakeholder teams across our lines of business, attending their regular meetings and building a working knowledge of their processes, tools, and pain points.
  • Proactively surface opportunities for tooling improvements, automation, and best practices — bringing ideas to stakeholders rather than waiting to be handed a problem.
  • Maintain a continuously updated view of each stakeholder group's upcoming priorities and how they map to BS&T's capacity and roadmap.
  • Act as the first point of contact for new stakeholder requests, gathering context and framing the underlying need before work is committed.

Scoping, Roadmapping & Prioritization

  • Partner with BS&T's engineering lead and architects to translate stakeholder needs into scoped, documented tasks with clear success criteria.
  • Own and communicate the BS&T roadmap, making prioritization decisions legible to stakeholders and aligning our planning rhythm with the rest of the company.
  • Balance urgent stakeholder priorities against high-value quality-of-life improvements, ensuring compounding wins don't get perpetually deferred.
  • Run intake, backlog grooming, and status communication processes so the team's work — and the reasoning behind it — is visible.

Vendor & Salestech Landscape

  • Stay current on the salestech landscape, evaluating emerging tools and practices for fit with Betterment's stack.
  • Support vendor assessments, procurement, and renewal processes across our salestech vendors, partnering with Finance, Legal, and Security as needed.
  • Help stakeholders evaluate build-vs-buy tradeoffs with a clear-eyed view of total cost, integration complexity, and maintenance burden.

What We're Looking For

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, business systems analysis, or a similar role sitting between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and the surrounding GTM systems ecosystem (e.g., CPQ workflows, enrichment, engagement, and integration tooling) — enough to scope work credibly and ask the right questions, even if you don't build in it yourself.
  • Experience at a company with a complex, multi-product go-to-market — where internal systems must integrate the CRM, adjacent salestech tool
