Food Store Service Manager II

Position Summary

Oversees Food Stores warehousing and customer service functions and logistics for MSU Bakers and Food Stores products.  Interviews, trains, recommends selection, schedules, and evaluates support staff and student employees. Responds to and resolves inquiries and service complaints. Prepares and oversees the preparation of operational documents. Oversees outside vendors that inspect and repair equipment and the facility. Monitors day to day operations to ensure that safety procedures are being followed, to check on quality and quantity of work performed, and to ensure that departmental missions and goals are being met. Performs and monitors compliance training. Coordinates Pest Control visits. Uses state of Michigan, federal, Ingham Public Health, and Food Stores HACCP and SOP procedures to inspect incoming product. Oversees product in the warehouse, as well as MSU Food Stores delivery procedures.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

   

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, or vocational school in a field related to the area of responsibility; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervising operational activities related to the area of employment; OR knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a field related to the area of responsibility; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervising operational activities related to the area of employment including supervision of multiple concession operations at medium to large facilities with attendance ranging from 5,000 - 75,000 guests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

Supervisory experience in a warehouse operation; experience supervising unionized employees; WMS (warehouse management software) software experience; experience with Microsoft Office application package; asset management experience; demonstrated professionalism with excellent communication and customer service skills to represent MSU appropriately; ability to relate to employees, customers, vendors, peers, etc.; very strong organizational skills; ability to deliver projects and achieve targets independently, proactively, and under pressure; Serve Safe certified; experience with voice picking software and hardware; HACCP certified; demonstrated experience in and knowledge of continuous process improvement.
