The SCA's Legal Department provides legal services to all divisions and departments of the SCA. The Department's responsibilities include: advising the Board of Trustees, officers and employees of all legal requirements of the SCA's construction program and business operations; managing litigation and defending the SCA in administrative matters; mediating construction claims and disputes; drafting and negotiating SCA contracts, license agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other legal documents; responding to requests pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL); managing the SCA’s public works lien system; and providing assistance with regards to the City's Conflicts of Interest laws.
Job Description Summary
The Senior Management Specialist will work actively and collaboratively with attorneys, the Corporate Secretary, and other members of staff to support the work of the Legal Department.Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Public Improvement lien recording and tracking.
- Review and respond to FOIL requests.
- Collection, review and preparation of documents and discovery to support claims and litigation.
- Support Real Estate attorneys with the collection and coordination of closing documents and other contract matters.
- Prepare analytical reports and track projects and matters to completion
- Participate in special projects; coordinate departmental and/or SCA-wide special projects as needed
- Participate in recommending changes to and/or new policies and procedures affecting all aspects of departmental operations
- Conduct research regarding departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs related duties, as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree
- Five (5) years of full-time experience in legal services, construction or real estate, including excellent computer and analytical skills to assist with reporting; or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Prior paralegal experience is preferred.
Weighted consideration will be given to candidates with strong oral and written communication skills, and will be comfortable interacting with colleagues throughout the SCA at all levels. Must be able to multi-task and take initiative in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Possess in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, and familiarity with document management systems.

Work Experience
