Job Description

This position will provide support to the Site Project Controller to track, analyze, and control the costs associated with site-wide projects and capital expenditures.

  • Contribute to supporting a positive team culture
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets financial and cost information, including variances, trends, and irregularities for assigned projects to track the progress against its financial goals.
  • Analyze project financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights that will enable decision making and determine progress against budgets.
  • Facilitate the cost analysis process by analyzing key performance indicators within the project groups, establishing, and supporting policies and procedures; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
  • Facilitate the maintenance and improvement of financial models and frameworks that validate forecast and budget submissions, and scenario analyses
  • Analyze, control, and monitor project total expenditures including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded.
  • Collect project information, update, and produce monthly management reports that include Actual vs. Budget; Contingency usage; Dollars Committed; and Forecast.
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in business, math, engineering or related field required
  • Experience:  Five to seven years of related experience; Mining and/or project experience a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong coordination, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience with financial software applications or other business analysis tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills

Health and Safety

  • Develop and continuously promote strategic objectives and health and safety awareness programs to ensure all workers and site contractors understand their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Lead, advise and co-ordinate the departmental health and safety officers to deliver the site health and safety objectives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and review of site policies, procedures, hazard management plans and standards.
  • Advise and assist senior management to establish business health and safety objectives, targets and KPIs that are fully integrated with the site’s business unit plans.
  • Facilitate regular hazard/risk management planning via regular risk reviews incorporating business unit hazard identification, risk assessment and control practices, and ensuring compliance.
