Duties/Expectations:  

The Head Dive Coach is responsible for leading a nationally competitive Division I Power Five diving program through elite coaching, recruiting, athlete development, and program administration while operating within NCAA, conference, and institutional standards and supporting the strategic goals of a high-performance athletic department.

Program Leadership and Competitive Excellence

  • Lead and manage all aspects of a Power Five Division I diving program with the goal of conference and NCAA championship success.

  • Design and implement year-round, high-performance training plans that support peak performance at championship meets.

  • Evaluate athlete performance using video analysis, performance metrics, and competition results.

  • Establish and sustain a culture of excellence, accountability, academic achievement, and integrity.

Elite Recruiting and Talent Identification

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit nationally and internationally competitive diving prospects aligned with Power Five standards.

  • Manage all recruiting communications, evaluations, visits, and recruiting databases in compliance with NCAA rules.

  • Collaborate with admissions, compliance, and NIL personnel to support the successful enrollment of recruits.

  • Build pipelines with club programs, high schools, and USA Diving networks.

Student-Athlete Development, Welfare, and Retention

  • Prioritize student-athlete health, safety, and well-being in a high-performance training environment.

  • Support academic progress, eligibility, and life-skills development.

  • Collaborate with sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental health, and academic services staff.

  • Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering leadership and long-term athlete development.

Compliance, Administration, and Operations

  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, including recruiting, eligibility, honor code and NIL policies.

  • Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, meet operations, and facility management.

  • Manage assigned operating budgets, equipment procurement, and inventory.

  • Maintain accurate records and complete required compliance documentation.

Departmental Collaboration, NIL, and External Relations

  • Collaborate closely with the Head Swimming Coach, sport administrators, and athletic department leadership.

  • Support NIL education and coordination efforts in partnership with institutional NIL staff (no direct compensation arrangement authority).

  • Engage alumni, donors, and supporters to enhance program visibility and sustainability.

  • Represent the program and institution professionally with media, at competitions, and at public events.

Professional Development and Industry Leadership

  • Stay current with elite diving techniques, safety standards, technology, and NCAA legislation.

  • Participate in national clinics, USA Diving programs, and professional organizations.

  • Benchmark the program against top Power Five and national competitors.
