As Development Manager, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data-driven products, processes, tools, and reporting solutions to enhance the profitability and operational efficiency of Valmet’s Fabrics business. You will identify opportunities to leverage data across various systems and translate these insights into practical tools, workflows, and customer-facing solutions.

This role requires a solid understanding of digital technologies and business processes. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, business-savvy, and proactive in driving improvements across operations, customer engagement, and overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Data-Driven Processes and Tools: Design and implement solutions powered by data, digitalization, and artificial intelligence within the Fabrics unit. These initiatives will enhance asset efficiency, improve customer service, simplify operations, and uncover new business opportunities.

• Create Digital Products and Services: Innovate and develop digital or data-driven offerings that complement Valmet’s consumables portfolio across various industries. These solutions will strengthen Valmet’s market position, boost customer satisfaction, and foster deeper customer engagement.

• Conduct Market and Competitor Analysis: Provide actionable insights through thorough market and competitor evaluations. These analyses will support profitability improvements, guide strategic decisions, and help increase market share.

• Support Users and Deliver Training: Ensure successful adoption of developed solutions by offering user support and training. Empower stakeholders to leverage new tools and business models effectively.

• Establish Performance Metrics: Define and implement key performance indicators to monitor and improve process efficiency and effectiveness.

• Lead Digital Transformation Initiatives: Drive development efforts in digitalization, Industrial Internet, and AI. Build and maintain strategic partnerships to support innovation and scalability.

In this position you will report to Mika Lahtinen, Director, Processes and R&D Excellence, and the location is in Tampere Yrittäjänkatu office.

To Succeed in This Role, You Should Have:

• Strong Business Acumen with Technical Expertise: Proven ability to combine a business-oriented mindset with skills in data analytics, digital tools, Industrial Internet, and AI-based solutions.

• Systems Thinking: Ability to understand and manage complex system configurations across diverse environments.

• Industry Insight: Solid understanding of manufacturing industry dynamics and business processes. Familiarity with the pulp and paper industries is considered an asset.

• Proficiency in Sales and Analytics Tools: Experience using tools such as SAP, Infor LN, Salesforce, and Power BI to support sales and decision-making processes.

• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capability to analyze data, identify patterns, and solve problems with precision and attention to detail.

• Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively across functions—including Operations, Product Management, IT, and Finance—using English as the working language.

• Self-Driven and Organized: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field

• Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a proactive and supportive approach to working with others
