About the team
Finance is the strategic engie that drives rigorous decision making and acts as the financial stewards of Stripe's businesses - and we'd like your help. Stripe is building a world class Controllership team and we are seeking a bar-raising financial accountant to join its funds flow team. The Stripe Funds Flow Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all businesses at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams. What you’ll do
- Participate in building scalable accounting processes to support global growth
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit support.
- Partner with Internal Systems, Treasury, Tax and Legal to support internal financial systems process improvements and automation and to advise on accounting implications
- Research and prepare technical accounting analyses to support new business initiatives
- Design, implement and execute efficient internal control procedures
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedural documentation

Minimum requirements
- 5-7+ years of work experience in public accounting and/or industry
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree a plus in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues
- Strong knowledge of Excel and experience with large data sets.
- Strong communication skills, including presenting to and influencing senior business leaders
- Demonstrated success managing concurrent projects independently
- Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
Preferred qualifications
- Big 4 audit firm or equivalent audit experience preferred
- Experience in implementing internal controls in early stage public companies is strongly preferred
- Technical certification (e.g., CPA)
- Experience with an online payments company, ecommerce, SaaS, Payments, Fintech or Financial Services industries is desirable.
- Experience working with JIRA and SQL is a plus
