Position Purpose:
Are you an organized, compassionate professional who enjoys helping patients navigate their healthcare experience with ease? Join our Pulmonary Diseases team as a Business Services Representative and become an essential part of supporting patients with respiratory conditions. As the first point of contact, you’ll warmly greet patients in person and over the phone, helping them feel at ease from the moment they reach out. You’ll manage critical front-office responsibilities, including scheduling appointments (for office visits, diagnostic testing, and procedures), registering patients, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting copays and payments. Your attention to detail will be key as you handle pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals, ensuring patients receive timely and coordinated care. By preparing charts and managing incoming and outgoing communications, you’ll help keep the practice running smoothly while making a real difference in the lives of patients dealing with conditions like asthma, COPD, and other lung diseases.
What you will do:
- Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department.
- Answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting.
- Processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner.
- Schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred. Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
- Excellent keyboard skills. Requires proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products. Accuracy and dependability required.
