About the Role:
As a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer you will lead others in multiple quality assurance tasks to ensure externally sourced products meet the quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse. Within this role the primary focus will be to manage teams in the execution of complex plans for supplier program development, oversight, and quality verification activities.
You will report to the Supplier Quality Manager, Large Structures in the AP1000 nuclear product line. This is a remote position based in the United States. Travel of 25-30% is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans for complex and first of a kind procurements to ensure compliance with quality and technical standards.
- Lead teams in the resolution of complex supplier quality issues which adversely impact product quality.
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the scheduling of audit and oversight activities and personnel to ensure timely execution of supplier quality activities and effective resource allocation in compliance with requirements.
- Perform independent verification activities (i.e., assessments and oversight) to verify Westinghouse QSL suppliers have established, implemented, and sustained an effective quality management system to assure the “nuclear safety related” or “augmented safety” items, material, and/or services being provided to Westinghouse, meet the quality assurance, regulatory, and customer requirements specified within purchasing documents.
- Monitor progress and direct teams to achieve established quality goals within budgetary and schedule constraints.
- Create certification documents, which identify the procurement requirements met by the purchased material or equipment, such as codes, standards, and other specifications imposed by Westinghouse Customers, for major equipment and components.
- Lead assessments of the global supply base to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards.
- Evaluate supplier quality plans, procedures, and processes to verify compliance to quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering
- Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure the effectiveness of supplier QA programs, and internal processes.
- Write detailed segments of QA plans/programs according to current U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. Implement policies on scope and retention requirements of quality assurance documentation.
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience is required. An NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification is desirable.
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, technical area or equivalent is required.
- Capability to concisely explain QA procedures to internal personnel and external customers, subcontractors, suppliers and licensees relative to Westinghouse quality related products and services.
- You develop solutions, plan work and set priorities while using a questioning attitude to identify risks.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
