Description

Two part-time intern openings located at the main Livestock Exchange Campus (30th & L).

The Pharmacy Intern contributes to the organization’s overall goal to develop and sustain centralized and shared pharmacy services for all patients.  The Pharmacy Intern works as part of a team that provides support for pharmaceutical programs, the pharmacy department and the Medication Assistance Program.  The Pharmacy Intern performs duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, including preparation, labeling, counsel patients, transfers prescriptions, take new prescriptions and distribution of medication.  The Pharmacy Intern also maintains prescription inventory and pricing.  The Pharmacy Intern contributes to maintaining a cooperative work environment, assistance in administrative support.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program with a College of Pharmacy; required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years required.
  • Register as licensed pharmacy intern with the State of Nebraska.  License must be current and in good standing; required. 
  • Displays effective communications skills, oral and written along with strong organizational skills; required. 
  • Knowledge and proficiency in computers operations and software packages with intermediate level skills in keyboarding, Microsoft Excel, Word and Internet Explorer; required.
  • Strong math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with analytical problem solving experience and trouble-shooting/follow-up skills; required.
  • Ability to work independently balancing responsibilities and work projects with a minimum of direction; required. 
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of medication classes, types and utilization. 
  • Demonstrates an understanding and awareness of assistance programs, community resources and sensitivity to the needs of the low-income and medically underserved population.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in a coordinating role. 
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred.
