Associate Producer - Audio (NYC & LA)

Penguin Random House Audio, part of the Digital Publishing Group, is seeking a highly motivated Associate Producer to join its Producer team. The Associate Producer will be responsible for overseeing the production of 40-50 audiobooks per year, and will support a team of accomplished producers in all stages of audiobook production as needed. Seeking candidates with a deep love of, and passion for, literature, performance, and the audio format.
Responsibilities:
- Support producers with complex titles such as multicast productions and original content, including but not limited to script prep, tallying word counts, analyzing text for casting needs; creation and review of credits; casting assistance with multi-voice productions; e-mail follow-up with authors, agents, editors; creation of supplemental materials for audiobooks; conducting auditions through Ahab.us; entering select programs into the production workflow; general administrative support.
- Interpret wide-ranging content and translate the written word into the audio format with a production approach that is true to the author’s vision.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with new and established house authors.
- Execute productions on schedule, within budget, and according to specification, and in collaboration with Pre-and Post-production departments.
- Successfully manage and oversee network of freelancers on a project-by-project basis. Assemble production team suitable to the needs of the audiobook.
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in publishing, audiobooks, or related performance medium; prior experience with audiobook production is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical/decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong teamwork ethic and willingness to pitch in when necessary
- Ability to juggle tasks on multiple projects at the same time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
The salary range for this position is $58,000-$60,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results. Please apply using our online application process, and please include your resume and cover letter.
