Survivor Services Advocate

Overview

As a Survivor Services Advocate at The Julian Center, you will provide direct support to individuals residing in our shelter who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. This role is critical to helping survivors access resources, navigate systems, and move toward safety and stability. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and adaptable – someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to empowering survivors through trauma-informed care.

A Day in the Life

• Meet with shelter residents to assess needs and connect them to resources.
• Assist with housing referrals, coordinated entry, and other community supports.
• Facilitate intake and exit processes, including extensions or behavioral-related decisions.
• Document case notes, complete grant compliance paperwork, and update electronic systems.
• Promote participation in shelter programs and encourage engagement in supportive services.
• Collaborate with crisis call staff and external stakeholders such as courts and housing agencies.

What You Bring

Required:

• Experience in case management or direct service delivery (experience in a domestic violence preferred but not required).
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional boundaries.

Preferred:

• Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field (preferred but not required).
• Trauma-informed care training.
• Familiarity with protective orders, court processes, or community resource navigation.
