GENERAL PURPOSE:
Responsible for the daily maintenance operations at the High Blue (HB) under the direct supervision of the Park Superintendent. Performs skilled maintenance, repair, adjustment, and construction work in the trades to ensure that the facility is properly maintained and meets membership expectations. Demonstrates a strong personal commitment to the mission and goals of the Belton Parks & Recreation Department and carries out assigned responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties as assigned.
- Works under the direct supervision of the Park Superintendent and the general supervision of the Assistant Park Director.
- Carries out maintenance operations of the High Blue.
- Acts as primary contact for night and weekend calls for emergency situations for the Community Center
- Determines work procedures and expedites workflow; studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Works with Park Superintendent and Park Director to establish preventative maintenance goals and objectives of the community center.
- Assists Park Superintendent with developing maintenance budget for HB.
- Recruits, trains, assigns tasks, and supervises part time staff.
- Regularly inspects the HB to evaluate operations.
- Assists with custodial staff when not available by cleaning floors in facility, including corridors, walkways, and offices through sweeping, mopping, or picking up debris.
- Assists with custodial staff when not available by operating floor buffers, vacuums, carpet cleaners, and other mechanical sweepers.
- Coordinates all preventative maintenance of HVAC and similar mechanical equipment.
- Performs skilled interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Documents and maintains work records and service records of all equipment.
- Assists Custodial staff when not available by setting up and taking down equipment in rooms for classes, special events, and other activities.
- Collaborates with Midwest Pool Management and performs all indoor swimming pool maintenance.
- Maintains pool filtration system, monitors pool water chemistry, and adjust chemistry as needed to maintain standards.
- Performs support tasks for department events and/or programs, as needed.
- Familiar with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Maintains exterior perimeter of the facility and parking lots by keeping walks/trails clean and free from debris, de-weeding flower beds, picking up trash, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Manage snow removal schedule for parking lots and sidewalks and HB.
- Performs these same tasks at outside park facilities and provides assistance to the maintenance staff where needed as assigned by the Park Superintendent.
- Assists in all other areas of park duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily tasks according to work schedule.
- Ability to use equipment properly and safely.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certified Pool Operator license within 6 months of hire.
- Valid state driver's license, CDL endorsement and Class B or greater with air brake within 12 months of hire.
