About the role

CoreAI is Microsoft’s central organization building the foundational platforms and tools to power AI experiences across products including GitHub Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, and Copilot Studio. The team is expanding rapidly and is establishing a world-class data analytics platform to support data-driven decision-making and enhance growth strategies. 

 

We are looking to hire a Principal Data Scientist - CoreAI to join the Agentic Growth team. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with teams across CoreAI to establish trustworthy data sets, provide actionable insights and analysis, and drive innovation specifically in growth analytics and product development for GitHub Copilot. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
      • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
        • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ year experience in basic hypothesis testing, p-values and trustworthy experiment design

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience with development using at least one of the following languages: SQL, Python, C# or Java.  
  • 5+ year experience in basic hypothesis testing, p-values and trustworthy experiment design.
