Our team is hiring a Mid-Level, Senior, or Lead level Tooling & Equipment Designer. The 2nd shift team supports the entire 777 and 777X program including structures, wings and final assembly. Our engineers focus on tooling (e.g. drill jigs, locating jigs, mandrels, holdings fixtures, 4-story work stands) while supporting the production system and leading improvement projects. Our production system is constantly reviewed for safety, quality and flow improvements, as well as new technology. Our team is focused on teamwork and collaboration along with the opportunity to coach and mentor others. This opportunity is located in Everett, WA.
This is a unique 2nd shift opportunity in that you will be following a 4x9 schedule, working 4 days with 9 hours each (1:30 pm – 11 pm PST) while getting paid 40 hours and having 3 days off per week. You must be able to work 2nd shift, as this posting is not for any other shift.
A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, safety, and tool construction. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.
This position is a Production Engineering role and requires direct interfacing with the people and equipment on the production floor. A typical day could include:
- Spending up to 8 hours on feet standing/walking on the production floor
- Climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment
- Working at heights or in tight spaces
- Wearing required PPE
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-Level, Senior and Lead Level Equipment and Tool Designers.
Primary Responsibilities:
This is a tooling development, implementation, support and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Investigate and develop tooling concepts, specifications and design solutions, including alternatives for the Production System to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.
- Lead the creation and modification of tooling definition at the program level.
- Lead gated reviews and develop plans for production readiness, preventative maintenance and spares.
- Ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in tool try-outs to ensure requirements are met.
- Develop and document tooling inspection and usage instructions and support user training
- Execute project plans, provide input to Make/Buy decisions and partner with Procurement to meet program schedule, cost and quality targets.
- Work in a cross-functional team alongside specialists from manufacturing, quality, safety, post-production services, product development, suppliers, and vendors
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the organization by communicating, collaborating, teaching, and mentoring others

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Equivalent combination of education and experience (Associates+3 years' related work experience OR 5 years' related work experience)
- 1 or more years of experience with production systems in a manufacturing or production environment
- Must be able to work second shift during the hours of 1:30 pm – 11 pm PST.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 5: 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in CATIA V5 or equivalent
