Job Summary

As the General Manager of the dining program at Pratt Institute, you will be responsible for supervising day-to-day campus dining operations, under the direction of the Resident District Manager and leadership.  This position will drive guest happiness and engagement! The applicant for the position must have a current NYC DOH Food Handler’s Certificate, or successfully complete the training satisfactorily, as part of the role requirement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Works in collaboration with the Resident District Manager, Chartwells and Campus Leadership and the campus community to operate and improve the campus dining program
  • Supports awareness of campus dining program and development of nutritional and dietary awareness, residential life interactions, etc.
  • Experience with retail venues, all-you-care-to-eat, Declining Balance Meal Plans and Meal Exchange Meal Plans 
  • Basic Human Resource functions and adherence of our collective bargaining agreement policies
  • Coordinates and implements student programming and experience events in collaboration with Chartwells and Campus Leadership
  • Helps the team analyze customer research and current market conditions and is proactive with actions
  • Leads the efficiency of the culinary, catering and front of house teams, in collaboration with the Campus Chef and Resident District Manager
  • Ensures customer happiness and good public relations through the safe and efficient uses of resources
  • Directs staff to provide scheduled retail services in accordance with corporate policies and presentation standards
  • Implements and maintains cash handling standards as outlined in the Corporate Policies and Procedures Manual to eliminate theft of services or Company funds
  • Supports the Resident District Manager in Overseeing P&L, budgeting and forecasting regularly
  • Maintains excellent relationships with clients, students, and the campus community
  • Works with the Chef and management team in crafting nutritious and top quality food for the campus community
  • Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the Chartwells marketing and culinary teams
  • Takes part in the Yearly Business Planning and follow-up Quarterly Business Reviews

 


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • A.S. or equivalent experience
  • MUST HAVE current ServSafe certification
  • Five to seven years of dynamic management experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
  • High volume, sophisticated foodservice operations experience is highly desirable
