Job Description
 

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Complies with all safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Provides support and executes projects in the design, modification, and optimization of Utility Systems (WFI, Pure Steam, Plant Steam, etc.), HVAC Systems (Air Handling Units, Chilled Water, Tower Water, etc.), and Facilities Systems (Fire Alarm and Sprinklers, etc.).
  • Provides engineering expertise and guidance in planning, start-up activities, implementation, process improvements, validation, and decommissioning.
  • Performs routine trouble shooting on manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Supports the facility certification of HEPA Filters, Fire Life Safety Systems, Fume Hoods, and other various equipment.
  • Prepares required engineering, manufacturing, and change management documentation.
  • With guidance, performs semi-routine evaluation studies of manufacturing equipment and
  • systems.
  • With guidance, resolves semi-routine manufacturing engineering issues
  • Provides accurate budget estimates for capital equipment and projects.
  • Works on the resolution of engineering issues of a routine nature with limited direct supervision.
  • Manages assigned projects through completion with limited direct supervision.
  • With guidance may participate on cross-functional project teams.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of automated process control systems, Mechanical Systems (WFI, Pure Steam, Chilled Water, Heating Hot Water, Plant Steam, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Typical Education & Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant experience and a BS in engineering (Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • 1+ years of relevant experience and an MA or MBA.
  • Previous experience in the biotech or pharmaceuticals industry is desirable.
  • Previous experience in engineering in highly regulated manufacturing environments is desirable.

The salary range for this position is: $86,275.00 - $111,650.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
