About the role

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Operations Specialist within Payment Operations - wires operations team. This team is responsible for processing wire transfers that stop in exceptions and require a repair, handle various payments exceptions and escalations specific to the wire transfer product. The US based wires team has multiple shifts starting at 6AM EST - 8PM EST covering both the Federal Reserve (Fedwire) and Clearing House Interbank Payment System (CHIPS) hours of operation.

The role will be primarily responsible for handling various tasks related to Wire Processing (USD and Foreign Exchange). A Successful candidate will have thorough knowledge on Nostro/Vostro, Foreign Exchange, SWIFT.  Additional responsibilities include in-depth knowledge of the wires processing, the ability to recognize and mitigate risks in the wires business, escalate the issues that may arise as part of the end of day process, and the ability to work horizontally across the organization. Works closely with other EWS teams, such as the Payments Command Center team, Production Support, Customer Support Team, EWS Risk team, and others.


In this role, you will:

  • Process broad based technical and business knowledge to anticipate emerging issues.
  • Recommend subsequent strategies and business directions.
  • Manage or participate on large cross group projects.
  • Make decisions on matters with some financial impact and risk.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge on Nostro/Vostro, Foreign Exchange, SWIFT
  • ISO 20022 message standards
  • They must be analytical with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple regions.
  • Must have advance Excel skills .
  • Confident and the ability to work under pressure and deliver on strict deadlines.


Job Expectations:

  • Currently working a Hybrid Schedule, subject to change following the Wells Fargo Corporate policy.
  • Ability to support End of Day (EOD) task on a rotation basis. The US based wires team has multiple shifts starting at 8AM EST - 8PM EST covering both the Federal Reserve (Fedwire) and Clearing House Interbank Payment System (CHIPS) hours of operation.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to support wire processing for Fedwire Extensions.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed including weekends to support Operational Readiness Testing.
