Job Summary

Under general direction and guidance, supervises all shift employees and activities and assures the timely shipments of orders processing during respective shift utilizing warehouse management systems.  Prepares, monitors, records and reports information regarding shift performance and progress.  As necessary, cover other departments and overtime shifts in absence of shift Supervisor. Complete understanding of warehouse management systems, and distribution operations.      

Essential Functions & Accountabilities

  • Supervisor is responsible for staffing, training, and employee relations to achieve departmental goals, following SOP and ISO requirements.  Provides project, cost improvement, and leadership support while promoting a safe work environment. 
  • Supervisor is responsible for reviewing and accurately reporting of employee performance data through established reporting on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Strong documentation for employee performance, evaluations and development plans
  • Hires, evaluates, develops, disciplines and discharges employees in accordance with current policies.
  • Regularly leads and monitors employee’s performance to assure a smooth workflow and maximum productivity in a highly automated environment. 
  • Engages and empowers employees to optimize their personal development, and contribution to organizational success
  • Conducts daily/weekly communication meetings with teams to establish daily priorities and alignment towards daily goals
  • Lean methodology approach to problem resolution with lean six-sigma tools preferred.
  • Self-motivated for personal development in areas of leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience planning and establishing departmental plans in support of organizational objectives.
  • Supervisor assures departmental adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and MDSAP and ISO 9000 requirements. Also responsible to ensure SOP’s are up to date. 
  • Uses critical thinking skills to account for fluctuations in volumes, systems issues and/or other variabilities in daily operation. 
  • Complete understanding of distribution workflows and distribution plans, participates in and is responsible for departmental planning regarding staffing, production supplies and inventories.  Orders and maintains all supply inventories related to the department.
  • Assures that all Material Handling Systems in the area are functional, working properly, and that all operators are properly trained in their use.
  • Maintain regular communication with manager, providing team status, concerns or achievements both verbally and through status boards or reports at the established frequency
  • Interacts with other departments, including customer service, training, and management as required to expedite critical orders, track and seek resolution for distribution related issues.
  • As required, leads activities between shifts to insure a smooth and efficient product flow and adherence to picking and shipping schedules.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and apply data towards problem resolution and efficiency gains.
  • Takes appropriate/immediate action to resolve any concerns or issues, including but not limited to resources, equipment, supplies and employees to meet or exceed SLA & productivity requirements
