About This Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to fill the role of Associate Director, Global Project Portfolio Management. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping and driving our project portfolio management (PPM) and resource management practices on a global scale. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of project management methodologies, portfolio prioritization, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Building on a recently developed and piloted set of processes for PPM, capacity planning, and resource management, continue to expand and evolve these processes in alignment with organizational goals. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the Carrier project portfolio management practice. Enhance and maintain the related governance framework.
  • Team Management: Leveraging your influencing skills, provide leadership and guidance to our global team of PMO leaders, Engineering managers and Product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. Provide guidance on related tools, templates, and techniques to ensure successful delivery across regions and projects.
  • Methodology Development: Assist the organization in the continuous improvement around project management methodologies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and drive consistency and efficiency in project delivery. Support Carrier’s standardized processes for project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, auditing, and closure while bringing innovative ideas for improvements that will bring our organization to the highest levels of maturity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with, influence and hold accountable cross-functional project teams to ensure the alignment with organizational goals. Key stakeholders include executives, technical staff, PMO Leaders, finance, marketing, and other team members. Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Key Partnerships: Collaborate on a regular basis with the PPM software Product Owner to ensure the tools support the key processes. Assist in defining system enhancements including additional functionality as well as enhanced UI and Customer Experience.
  • Risk Management: Implement a lessons learned framework from completed sprints, pilots, or engagements to enhance future outcomes. Create a risk-aware and mitigation-driven culture within the organization.
  • Global Collaboration: Work seamlessly across different regions, understanding and addressing cultural aspects that influence project management results. Foster a cohesive global project management community through knowledge sharing and collaboration platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 12+ years of professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in project management with a demonstrated track record of successful delivery of increasingly complex programs.
  • 5+ years leading a PMO; Working with project management principles, methodologies, and tools, including both Agile and waterfall methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Deep experience using and ideally implementing a PPM or SPM software tool.
  • Experience with Power BI is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a global program management leadership role is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with a stage-gate product development process.
  • Change Management certification, or deep experience driving change in a large complex organization.
  • Experience in training design and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

$133,319 - $232,919 Annually
