Data Center Engineer for UKIME (UK and Middle East) region

Dentons Business Services UKIME is currently looking for a Data Center Engineer.

Are you someone who enjoys working in a varied and dynamic environment? Dentons UKIME is looking to hire a

3rd line NSX/VMWARE engineer. This role entails being a VMWare Subject Matter Expert (SME) and extensively working with various VMWare platforms such as VMWare NSX, vRealize suite, VMWare ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere. Additionally, you will be involved with Dell vx rail, vRealize automation, Azure, PowerShell scripting, and Windows servers. This position combines engineering and project work, including the setup of NSX rules both on-premises and in the Cloud.

To be eligible for this role, you should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience with VMWare technologies. We are seeking an individual who excels in VMWare NSX and can contribute innovative ideas to the team.

Our Data Centre engineers look after all day-to-day activities ensuring secure, safe, and smooth operations within the Data Centre. The team performs maintenance on enterprise servers and addresses backup & restore issues by leveraging technical expertise. The team is responsible for ensuring consistent, repeatable, and sustainable practices, procedures, and documentation related to the Data Center operations. An ideal candidate should have technical knowledge with a pragmatic approach to implementation of practical solutions for an international company.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Data Center expertise ensuring the maintenance of physical and virtual servers, operating systems/applications patching, backups, and monitoring,

• Follow the processes and adhere to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Security, Health, Safety, and Quality),
• Support the team in creating guidance based on technical expertise regarding Disaster Recovery planning and design,
• Administration and Maintenance of VMware/NSX clusters and hosts
• Monitor tools such as Veeam One, Open Manage, SolarWinds and others,
• Support the administration of SAN and SAN connectivity,
• Administer backups and diagnose backup issues,
• Support the team in developing effective practices and procedures for the configuration of storage/vmware for maximum performance. Preparing documentation.
• Provide daily operational support and maintenance for enterprise servers,
• Keep track of the entire infrastructure (servers, storage devices, backup systems, etc.) and system software in compliance with the licensing rules,
• Ensure Zero Major Incidents due to hygiene issues for the account/s and drive Incident Closure and subsequent RCCA process end to end,
• Management, Performance Tuning, Asset Management, Disaster Recovery, and Data Center support
• Work with business stakeholders and IT colleagues to oversee, approve and be accountable for key technology and service roadmap decisions,
• Co-operate with the Global Design Authorities to agree and implement regional and global policies and practices,
• Ensure that robust business continuity and system recovery procedures play a key role and are in place and routinely tested in the emergency response activity,
• Participate in cloud infrastructure design and implementation of Azure Cloud infrastructure foundation including network integration, infrastructure, and shared services in Dentons Global Azure regions,
• Create architecture patterns and technology standards for building and deploying cloud-based business solutions,
• Maintain corporate infrastructure security standards for all systems; ensure data and database security at the server level; introduce security hardening techniques, especially for Internet-facing systems (Cyber Essential Plus),
• Pursue, implement, and enhance Best Practices to drive operational excellence in the area of responsibility.

About You

• ITIL Foundation (Certification is a plus) and knowledge of fundamental principles based on ITIL service management framework and similar IT governance structures i.e., ISO 9001 / 27001, Cyber Essential Plus,
• Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a cross-functional role in a mid to large-sized corporate environment supporting the following technologies or their equivalents:

• VMware NSX
• VMware vSphere 7.x , 8.x
• Windows Server 2012 – 2022,
• Storage arrays such as: HPE 3Par, HPE MSA, Dell EqualLogic, Unity, PowerStore, Pure or similar,
• Storage Array Network: FC & iSCSI,
• Dell PowerEdge servers, HPE ProLiant,
• SolarWinds, Veeam One, Dell Open Manage,
• Full Directory Services (AD, AAD, ADFS, DHCP, DNS, GPO, DFS-R),
• Disaster recovery: Zerto, Veeam Replicator or similar,
• Backup solutions: Cohesity, Veeam or sim
