This position works out of our Marshfield, WI location in the Cancer Diagnostics division.

As the Clinical Laboratory Scientist II, Assay Development, you’ll have the chance to perform high complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens, interpreting and reporting patient results, performing quality control and quality assurance procedures, assisting senior lab staff with advanced laboratory duties, assisting less experienced employees where needed, and complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laboratory requirements. The CLS II will consistently display excellent execution in all aspects of their work and contribute to projects and discussions in addition to daily laboratory testing.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

What You’ll Work On 

  • Ability to work on standard and complex tests, procedures, and analyses according to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Perform verifications or validations within a team setting.
  • Contribute to workflow efficiency gains exercises and assist with troubleshooting assays.
  • Perform research and development of new clinical assays, workflows, efficiency gains, and cost reduction measures.
  • Includes achieving basic understanding of assay development for paralogy targets.
  • Develop genetic assays using novel testing platforms.
  • Independently make adjustments to pre-existing assays as needed.
  • Meet high productivity, quality, and TAT expectations.
  • Generate basic reports related to business development decisions.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain stringent standards for quality, identifying any issues which might adversely impact the quality of test results and/or employee safety, and communicating these to the appropriate management representatives.
