Platform Ops (Team Lead)

Role Summary:
Business Wire is seeking a passionate Platform Ops Team Lead. You will be part of a team that is responsible for providing technical support across all Business Wire’s SaaS based and back-office applications and infrastructure. An ideal candidate is a lifelong learner with a passion for appraising Infrastructure and Application enhancements to continually recommend innovative solutions and service improvements. Candidates should have a solid understanding of Linux systems, Java application technology stacks, networking, and system/networking troubleshooting fundamentals. As part of a small team supporting mission-critical programs within the company, this position provides the candidate with a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in support of our customers.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for contributing to tactical day to day operations across Corporate IT with a focus on improving reliability, reducing architectural complexity, and identifying continuous improvement initiatives Provide leadership in executing initiatives supporting Corp IT Systems, Applications, Network, and Security posture improvement.
• Perform as a technical lead across IT Services. Install, manage, and provide operational support for on-premises and Cloud-based (AWS) IT infrastructure and applications
• Incident root cause analysis, service restoration, and serve as a team escalation point  
• Leverage various tools to provide automated orchestration across a wide array of disciplines, i.e., Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Take part in scheduled maintenance and cloud migration activities
• Participate in 24x7 On Call rotation

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience as either a hands-on manager or lead supporting Corporate Infrastructure, Networking, and Application Support in a high availability, 24x7 hybrid environment.
• Advanced linux administration and scripting experience
• Security first mindset combined with an understanding of security fundamentals; SSL/TLS, Microsoft PKI, GPO, SSO, Zero Trust
• Strong automation track record
• Scripting/Programming languages:  Power Shell, Python, Ansible, CloudFormation, Terraform or similar
• Participate in Code Reviews
• Monitoring tools:  New Relic, Splunk, Solarwinds
• Strong technical acumen in Network protocols (layer 1-3) and networking concepts DNS, SDWAN, VPN
• Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks Firewalls 
• Cisco Routers and Switches
• Native AWS networking solutions
