Department Overview

The US Federal Governments Markets Division (USFGMD) is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The USFGMD will achieve this with a professional, well-trained, diverse work force creating a positive and profitable customer relationship resulting in Total Customer Satisfaction and growth of our business. The Federal Systems Technology department of the USFGMD is responsible for service supporting a charter of implementing and integrating complex systems sold worldwide to the US Federal Government. As a USFGMD On-Site Technical System Manager, you will be exposed to a wide variety of communications requirements in both the Presale and Post Sale phases of a project. These applications span the entire breadth of the US Federal Government throughout the world.

Must be an active US service military member with the ability to gain approval for DoD SkillBridge program.


Job Description

  • The System Technologist position is located onsite at the Ft. Drum, NY Military base​. This position will be dedicated to the US Army ACE system at Fort Drum, NY.
  • Candidates must be based within 1 hour from base.
  • MUST be willing to travel by air up 10% of the time.
  • The applicant will need to be self-motivated and be able to perform with indirect supervision.
  • Troubleshooting and repair equipment in a timely manner.
  • Customer training on Motorola Land Mobile Radio Products. This equipment
    is state of the art Astro 25 Trunking.
  • Verbalize and communicate concepts and recommendations to the customers and within the Motorola Solutions organization.
  • Have a detailed understanding of Motorola systems to assist in the design, troubleshooting and maintenance of Motorola’s product lines.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s)
  • 3+ years experience as an Electronics/Field Technician
  • Experience working with Motorola Infrastructure Technologies to include: Astro25 cores, MCC Console line, and third-party networking equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain CompTIA Security+ certificate
  • Strong networking skills (LAN and WAN) skills required
  • Understanding of IA systems and Domain Administration in a Network Administration position
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Must be proficient in Motorola Customer Programming Software
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain the necessary security clearance level that is required by the U.S. Federal Government Contracting Office 

    This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

    Basic Requirements

    • 3+ years of experience with one or more of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency,  Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking Equipment, IP Networking, Solutions Architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or Military experience
    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s)
