Department Summary
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy (UNT-SCP) will contribute to the development of the educational, research, and service programs of the Department. The faculty will report to the Chair of the Department. The faculty of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences will provide expertise toward the basic sciences side of the pharmaceutical sciences such as pharmaceutical discovery, formulation, and delivery.
The Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the UNT System College of Pharmacy is located at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth. Ranked among the top 50 medical schools for seven consecutive years, UNTHSC is a 33-acre graduate school located in the city’s Cultural District with a local economic impact of $500 million annually. The UNT System College of Pharmacy is the first pharmacy school in Texas located on an academic health science center campus.
Position Overview
The Executive Director of Research Services provides operational oversight of the Pharmaceutical Analysis Core Laboratory (PACL) and supports the research infrastructure of the College of Pharmacy and Health Professions. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Research, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of PACL operations, shared analytical instrumentation, laboratory compliance activities, equipment management, laboratory budgeting, and personnel supervision. The Executive Director works collaboratively with faculty and research staff to expand utilization of the PACL, develop federal equipment grant proposals, and maintain a high-quality shared research environment. The position also provides operational support for research space management, laboratory compliance, and institutional research reporting in collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean of Research and the College Program Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of shared research core operations and laboratory management.
- Ability to oversee complex scientific instrumentation and coordinate maintenance and operational activities.
- Strong understanding of laboratory compliance requirements, including biosafety and chemical safety.
- Ability to develop laboratory operating budgets and manage equipment resources.
