About the Role:

United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is hiring a Surgical Stepdown Staff Registered Nurse to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Surgical Stepdown Unit is a small, collaborative environment monitoring patients coming out of the operating room. Each nurse cares for 3 patients at max. This unit works with a handful of Physicians at once.

Schedule: 12 hour shifts; 7-7 days and evenings; every 3rd weekend

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

• Monitoring patients post operation – including ventilators and drips 
• Monitor critical care patients 
• Keeping a close eye on vital signs and rapidly responding when needed 
• Administering medications as provided by Physician   
• Keeping accurate documentation

Qualifications:

• A valid NY RN license
• ACLS certification
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Previous ventilator or drip experience
• 1 year bedside nursing experience

Preferred:

• At least 1 year in Critical Care, PACU, Progressive Care in inpatient hospital setting

• Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients.
• Rooms are air conditioned and heated.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.
• Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
• PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by Infection Control policies

Sign-On Bonus: This unit is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $25,000.
