Job Description

The Retail Assistant Manager supports the Management team in ensuring the efficient and profitable operation of the retail business. This role includes leading a team, driving sales, training and developing staff, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining store standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong organizational skills, is familiar with complex retail operations, has experience with managing inventory, excels at visual merchandising, and is committed to enhancing the customer experience.

Job Responsibilities

· Team Leadership:

o Supervise, motivate, and support retail staff to ensure the highest standards of service are met and all sales and service goals are achieved.

o Recruit, train, and onboard new employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices while ensuring all operational guidelines are followed and adhered to.

o Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback while working effectively with team members to achieve store goals and foster a positive environment.

o Assist Management with administering corrective actions and holding staff accountable to core competencies where required to maintain business standards and efficiencies.

o Act as a point of contact for team members and clients by providing guidance and support during shifts, while also serving as a mediator to resolve internal conflicts.

· Customer Service:

o Lead by example in greeting and engaging customers, provide product information, and assist in making purchase decisions.

o Address and resolve customer inquiries, complaints, or issues in a professional and efficient manner.

o Promote a positive, upbeat, and welcoming atmosphere.

· Sales and Merchandising:

o Support the execution of in-store promotions, displays, and marketing initiatives.

o Meet or exceed sales targets by upselling, cross-selling, and promoting store promotions or loyalty programs while training staff on proper sales techniques and practices.

o Ensure merchandise is stocked, organized, and displayed to reflect brand standards.

o Monitor inventory levels and process transfers for restock.

o Analyze sales reports and suggest strategies and products for improvement.

· Operational Excellence:

o Assist with overseeing building and warehouse operations and processes.

o Oversee inventory management including restocking, merchandising, cycle counts, price checks, and loss prevention.

o Possess a thorough knowledge of POS system and heat pressing equipment.

o Accurately handle cash, credit, and other transactions while maintaining a high level of integrity.

o Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store environment.

Qualifications

· Minimum of 3-5 years of retail experience with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory position, preferably in a fast-paced or customer-centric environment.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.

· Experience with visual merchandising, inventory, warehouse, and operational best practices.

· Knowledge of POS systems and basic cash-handling procedures.

· Intermediate math and counting skills required.

· Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities while leading a team.

· Computer literate with experience in MS Office programs.

· Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
