Sr Cost Accountant (Government Compliance)

About the role

The person holding this position will perform various tasks pertaining to cost accounting compliance for government contracts, including regulatory review and interpretation for current and proposed contracts, preparation of annual cost-related submissions and supporting documentation, ongoing monitoring and review of transactional data for allowability and allocability, and providing
support, training and guidance for project teams regarding compliance requirements and audits

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze transactional data for allowability and allocability in accordance with FAR and CAS
  • Monitor and enforce compliance for labor-charging practices
  • Monitor indirect rates and provide analyses based on multiple scenarios
  • Assist in preparation of Incurred Cost Submission (ICS), including all main schedules and supporting data/supplemental schedules
  • Assist in preparation and development of forward pricing rate proposals (FPRP)
  • Assist in preparation and development of cost impact proposals resulting from accounting changes
  • Facilitate internal control governance reviews to ensure compliance with the requirements of DFARS Business Systems and other FAR/CAS regulatory requirements
  • Assist in gathering relevant information/data, coordinating, supporting, and reviewing responses to the Defense Contract
  • Management Agency (DCMA), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), and internal and/or external customers


Basic qualifications:

  • BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting or Business (or equivalent) is required
  • Highly motivated individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers within and outside of Compliance and Internal Audit
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and reliability of output.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required

Preferred qualifications:

  • CPA or government contracting certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge of CAS and FAR
  • Working knowledge of the preparation and development of ICS, FPRP, and cost impact proposals
  • Experience responding to DCAA and/or DCMA audit requests
  • Experience with SAP, Workday, and Coupa is a plus
