Project Overview:

Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington State. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 56 million gallons (212 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era. The cleanup project is one of DOE’s most technically challenging and the largest undertaking of its kind—equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. The construction site spans 65 acres (26 hectares) and includes facilities for pretreatment, high-level waste vitrification, as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, and other support facilities. 

Positions located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) work a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

 

Job Summary:

Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity. Responsible for supervising and directing operations related to all work face access/egress requiring work decks, stair towers, loading platforms, scaffolding, aerial lifts, for the HLW project. Proficient in the use of the project model, synchro pro, and project schedule for scaffolding procurement, inventory, asset management, accurate planning and forecasting. Supervises subordinate superintendent and coordinator, and others (directs craft activities), as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.#LI-CL1

 

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area. Safely directs assigned construction work in accordance with Bechtel’s safety program.
• Determines manual staffing requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Monitors work activities and ensure the quality of work is performed.
• Approves craft time records using established automated tools.
• Prepares schedules, construction methods and procedures.
• Supervises and directs subordinate personnel and craftsmen in construction activities within assigned area.
• Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
• Monitors tool usage on the site. Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the
