Role and Scope of Position:
Coordinates and plans the daily work assignment of metering tasks related to maintenance and installation of various metering equipment, including secondary and primary voltage. Acts as a liaison to Field Engineering and Design, electrical contractors, and project managers to assist in bringing small and large construction projects to fruition, including distributed generation, as well commercial and residential developments. Individual will directly interact with Meter Service Representatives to ensure the safe and timely completion of their daily work. Individual is responsible for reviewing complex equipment approvals, including interpreting single and three phase diagrams.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and maintains department records
  • Coordinates Meter Department activities with Line Departments, Field Engineering and Design, customers and other departments as necessary
  • Maintains and ensures adherence with established test schedules and appointments
  • Facilitates testing, calibration, maintenance of all types of metering equipment and associated devices
  • Leads site meetings with electricians, general contractors, Field Engineering and Design and customers as necessary for new services, upgrades, distributed generation or other design related issues
  • Interprets and implements company policy, practices and safety rules in the supervision of employees and resolution of personnel problems
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge and adherence of our Information and Requirements Book for WMA, including interpretation and updates
  • Leads department meetings to reinforce training, standards, safety protocols, as well as the review and analysis of safety incidents
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining metering equipment and stock, including execution of the meter inventory.
  • Identifies appropriate procedural methods to maintain and/or improve functionality and productivity
  • Utilizes, analyzes, and assists in designs for company data points, inclusive of Power BI reports in efforts to improve and monitor productivity to assist process improvement decisions.
  • Effectively interacts with subordinates, superiors, interfacing departments and vendors
  • Plans, reviews and performs daily work assignments, inclusive of all meter orders and tasks in Fieldnet or other system of record for WMA districts (Springfield, Hadley, Pittsfield), including AMI deployment
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Western Massachusetts preferred
  • Attending Operations planning meetings
  • Strong comprehension and working knowledge of Maximo, including the completion of various meter tasks
  • Ability to review and interpret technical specifications, including single and three-line diagrams for instrument transformer switchgear, as well as other electrical diagrams.
  • Performs safety briefings and incident analysis as necessary
  • The ability to enter safety report and hazard IDs in the SIMs database.
  • Strong leadership skills to assign work in accordance with directing the workforce on a daily basis.
  • Access/Excel experience to develop reporting and schedule resources.
  • Strong background with Maximo, Fieldnet, OMNI, Powertrack. Powerclerk desirable
  • Proficiency in Distributed Generation and Battery Storage desirable
  • Ability to facilitate in person and virtual presentation to solar installers/developers
  • Liaison for regulatory, executive, and Government Affairs complaints related to metering

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

• Ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to follow detailed written instruction

• Strong electrical background, including the ability to interpret and follow schematics and electrical diagrams.

• Electrical license preferred

• Proven safe driving record

• Ability to work alone and be self-directed

•Strong organizational skills

Education: 

•Associates degree in Industrial Electronics/Electricity/Engineering or equivalent experience preferred

Experience:  

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in metering, engineering, or electrical

• Previous supervisory, forema
