Lead Software Engineer is an intermediate technical leadership role responsible for helping the team set the tone with following the approved architecture and producing solutions and design considerations for the development, maintenance, and improvement of software applications. The role will also establish best practices in software development, coding, code-review, testing, and problem-solving. This role will be expected to deliver complex pieces of deliverables for a project.
What you will do:
- Work with and provide operational support for the wider development and cross functional teams to deliver continuous improvements across all supported applications to develop and integrate monitoring and alert frameworks for large-scale distributed software applications, monitoring availability and overall system health.
- Maintain and improve core system platforms stability and scalability.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures that are related to system runbook, configuration, processes, and service records.
- Troubleshoot and complete Root Cause Analysis investigations and perform readiness reviews on production issues, interfacing with internal teams and external clients.
- Debug production issues across services and stack levels.
- Document activities to turn them into repeatable actions and automations.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve applications through optimization.
- Take on-call rotation shifts to respond to incidents that impact availability and provide support during customer incidents.
- Measure system performance and optimize it to expand capability, anticipate customer needs, and drive continuous improvement.
- Gather and analyze data from applications and operating systems to tune performance and locate faults.
- Build monitoring to alerts based on symptoms rather than outages.
- Make recommendations about the use of AWS managed services and resources.
- Build relationships with vendors and technology and business partners.
- Scale our services with an eye for cost optimizations.
What you will bring:
- 3-6 years developing solutions across multiple architecture domains (application, data, integration, infrastructure and security) involving multiple of the following technologies and architecture styles: Data Warehouse, Datalake, APIs, integration/middleware, mobile, web technologies, and service-oriented architecture.
- 4+ years of Programing experience and fluent in Python.
- 4+ years of solid experience in AWS technologies such as Redshift, Dynamo DB, EMR, EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, Event Bridge, RDS, IAM, , Kubernetes.
- 4+ years of experience in developing SQL, DBMS experience on any recognized database (Redshift, DynamoDB, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres).
- Working knowledge of Cloud Formation, CloudWatch, and Kinesis.
- Code repository best practices; Git, GitHub, “Git Flow” or other workflows
- Strong Agile software development experience, familiar with Scrum and Kanban, using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint.
- Understand how to build secure, performant, reliable and durable systems/architecture.
- Security minded with an interest in protecting systems and infrastructure.
What will set you apart:
- 2+ year Experience with QuickSight and Kinesis.
- 2 years IT in financial or other highly regulated industry.
- Hands on experience running production workloads on AWS cloud services.
- Knowledgeable about DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
- Comfortable with Linux, UNIX, and Windows based OS
- Exceptional communication skills in incident responses with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand how to build secure, performant, reliable and durable systems/architecture.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work is required.
