Job Title/Position:  LPN/Certified Medical Assistant

Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide professional nursing or medical assistant care under supervision or scope of licensure for clinic patients
  2. Facilitate/perform the gathering of patient information and document accordingly
  3. Assist with office procedures as directed
  4. Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients
  5. Oversee appointment bookings
  6. Instruct patients and families by phone as directed within scope of licensure or certification
  7. Greet patients and prepare them for physician examination
  8. Screen patients for appropriate information
  9. Maintains timely flow of patients
  10. Communicate with hospitals and other offices as directed by providers
  11. Complete forms as needed
  12. Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including re-stocking of treatment areas
  13. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested
  14. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
  15. Maintain patient confidentiality
  16. Perform community/mass/group testing as assigned
  17. Perform related work as required

 

Performance Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care
  2. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  3. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  4. Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  5. Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level
  6. Ability to communicate clearly
  7. Must display excellent teamwork
  8. Must possess skills to effectively solve problems
  9. Skill in assisting with a variety of clinic based tasks
  10. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results
  11. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with patients, medical staff and the public
  12. Ability to work in various assigned work environments to meet clinic and patient needs
  13. Ability to work in various assigned work environments to meet clinic and patient needs
  14. Ability to be flexible with shifts and work to meet patient/clinic/community needs
  15. Ability to maintain personal protection equipment for the work assigned
  16. May require the need to work assigned weekends to cover the needs of the community/mobile testing

 

Education/Experience/Certifications:

 

Licensed Practical Nurse

  1. Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing
  2. Valid state license to practice practical nursing
  3. CPR certification
  4. LPN experience preferred

 

Certified Medical Assistant

  1. Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  2. Current CPR certification
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Proficiency in the use of computer, phone, and office equipment
  5. If holds other licenses that supersede CMA/RMA license may practice to the highest level of licensure with the approval of Quality Resources in writing. Approval to be kept on file with department supervisor. Employee must maintain licensure to continue working at higher level of service
